What does HackerNews think of vale?

:pencil: A syntax-aware linter for prose built with speed and extensibility in mind.

Language: Go

Definitely. Though they apparently weren't very happy with someone bringing it up: https://github.com/errata-ai/vale.sh/issues/46
I was confused by the title because when my bubble talks about Vale they mean this:

Vale is an OSS tool that you can use as a "prose linter" with many of these rules. You can also write your own rules. Together with a spellchecker its a good replacement for proprietary tools like grammarly.

I'm fond of Vale, where you can write your own rules or grab others off github. I wish we could crowd source a grammarly clone using it. Some efforts have been made to do so, but didn't get far.

I would recommend using Vale for linting prose in a text editor. It can approach grammarly like rules as well as handling spelling for technical documents fairly well.
