It works great and disables many of these annoying things.

You can build it from source if you would like. It needs to do that because some (most) medium posts are not on the medium.com domain.

There is a fix for Medium[0] but the general trend of massive boilerplates and little content really needs to die.

Yes, Medium has terrible reading experience. I found this extension (https://github.com/thebaer/MMRA) a while ago. You should try it.
You might like this extension [0] for Firefox and Chrome that removes the sticky header and footer from Medium sites.
