What does HackerNews think of uncap?

Map Caps Lock to Escape or any key to any key

Language: C

#34 in C
#14 in Emacs
#22 in Vim
#34 in Windows
That's actually a good habit to build.

Here's a windows utility you might find useful: https://github.com/susam/uncap

And here's an editor that's accommodating to your newly trained typing skills ;) https://www.vim.org/

Me too. When I get a new system, the first thing I do is map CapsLock to Escape.

On Windows, I use the Uncap [ https://github.com/susam/uncap ] tool because it does not require install or restart. The tool has good documentation to map CapsLock to Escape for Linux and MacOS too.

On the flip side, I struggle to use Vim when I need to do so someone else's computer. :-D

Did you mean Caps Lock? Which tool do you use? I found https://github.com/susam/uncap but it does not have a MacOS binary.

Map Caps Lock key to Escape key, or any to any key, on Windows systems.

I am very happy about it because my wife (then girlfriend) was the first user of this little tool and she still uses it everyday. She likes that this tool is unobtrusive and it silently remaps Caps Lock to Escape which is very convenient while using Vim.

From the download count I know that there are more people using it now but I don't know who they are.

I have my license in LICENSE.md, LICENSE.rst, etc. and they are picked up correctly. For example, https://github.com/susam/uncap and https://github.com/susam/ice.
