What does HackerNews think of NetGuard?
A simple way to block access to the internet per app
Language:
Java
Isn't there something similar to NetGuard or TrackerControl able to be implemented on iOS?
Android exposes a soft VPN API that firewall apps can use to block network traffic for certain apps in certain scenarios (say, no Google Play updates when on mobile data) with apps like Netguard [1].
Does iOS not expose such functionality? Surely there's some kind of VPN API?
NetGuard and TrackerControl (which is based on NetGuard) are comparable alternatives.
I do not know about this specific case and I have not used XPrivacy but I want to chime in here and say
Thank you, Marcel Bokhorst
Your NetGuard (https://github.com/M66B/NetGuard) and FairEmail (https://github.com/M66B/FairEmail) apps are great. They are high quality, open source and contain none of the dark patterns that mobile is plagued with. They are available to download from Github, F-Droid and the Playstore. There are paid premium features to support you but if I wanted to I could still compile the app myself to unlock them.
