Bypass Paywalls web browser extension for Chrome and Firefox.

Language: JavaScript

#1 in Firefox
I'm using an extension called "Bypass Paywalls Clean", haven't updated it in a very longe while and it still works, looks like the current versions is here: https://github.com/iamadamdev/bypass-paywalls-chrome
This extension removes paywalls on many news sites (maintained, 33k stars) https://github.com/iamadamdev/bypass-paywalls-chrome
The "Bypass Paywalls" extension works for me. It's becoming necessary like Ublock Origin and a few others to make the web usable.

(also for Firefox, which is the one I'm using)

I don't see anyone mentioning Bypass Paywalls. It lets you bypass paywalls on most mainstream news outlets. It's a must-have for me and I wish it was available for Safari.

FWIW, this extension has worked great for me, but it seems that the developer's support is dwindling for it: https://github.com/iamadamdev/bypass-paywalls-chrome/
Have a look at: https://github.com/iamadamdev/bypass-paywalls-chrome Any page that needs to be bypassed is worthy of a glance; limiting yourself to just one source runs the risk of 'rose tinted glasses' syndrome.
Or install the "Bypass Paywalls" extension.

(URL says Chrome but you'll find the Firefox extension there as well)

Is this the same extension as https://github.com/iamadamdev/bypass-paywalls-chrome?

I've been using the latter for years now too. It still doesn't work with hard paywalls like the ones on economist.com or wsj.com.

This is a fork of the original version [0] that strips out Google Analytics and also adds its own features.

There's also this excellent browser extension: https://github.com/iamadamdev/bypass-paywalls-chrome

Despite the name, it also works for Firefox.

Maybe not what OP is looking for, but for folks who can't afford news subscriptions I would recommend (https://github.com/iamadamdev/bypass-paywalls-chrome).
I replied this in another comment, but here is a look into an opensource version that you can compile. It will give you a good idea of how it works behind the scenes [1].

How is 12ft Ladder any different than this Github repo that does the same thing? This is one of the more popular repos as well at 22k stars.

Genuinely curious, as I've just been using [1] and have had no issues bypassing paywalls. If 12ft has access to more sites, or something, that would be a better use case.

The owner of the repo does not even want donations, just a star, otherwise, I'd contribute!

The bypass paywalls extension might help! It's great for WSJ, economist, and many others. Helps to bypass some of the more common websites at least.
