Checklist for Tesla Model Y

I almost bought a tesla. I was really excited at the idea of driving over to the factory and picking up my car (I live close by). Then my friend pointed out that Model Ys had had some delivery problems and pointed me at https://github.com/polymorphic/tesla-model-y-checklist After doing a bit of research I cancelled my order and bought a toyota because the out-the-door build quality is not something I need to worry about at all. \
I was prepared to buy a Tesla, and even planned on doing the full acceptance process (https://github.com/polymorphic/tesla-model-y-checklist) at the factory (a short drive from my house) but after Musk announced the Model Y was losing the radar and reading a bit more about their problems with FSD Beta (which I was planning to spend $10K to get), I concluded their cars were not the best in the world. I went and got a toyota which could pretty much have the engine compartment welded shut for ten years (modulo oil changes) and run perfectly.

It's a real shame because in principle having a manufacturing facility making great electric cars in the bay area would be a real win. Musk's reality distortion field is cracking.

Just took delivery of a Model Y in the US (Fremont build, VIN 249XXX), the quality is top notch. No paint issues/blemishes, no missing parts of fasteners, everything checked out (using this [1] checklist).

Also: Tesla can make a nice car, but doesn't like doing so very often. Please look up the pre-delivery checklists.

Tesla is not like a regular manufacturer where you can walk around a vehicle and determine if you want to accept it. You have to actually test things - even the things that we've been doing right since the Model T. These things are built in tents by staff that is treated quite poorly, and you should be skeptical in proportion to that information.

Here is a good example: https://github.com/polymorphic/tesla-model-y-checklist

Although I noticed it's missing "check that the roof and trunk are in fact water proof".

Getting any of these things fixed after you take delivery is a huge PITA.
