What does HackerNews think of TIC-80?

TIC-80 is a fantasy computer for making, playing and sharing tiny games.

Language: C

> Final plug is of course PICO8.

Cannot not mention a Tic80. It is a FOSS alternative to PICO8.

Main differences are: 16:9 aspect ratio, no cpu limits and many languages to tinker with: lua, js, moonscript, ruby, squirrel, wren, fennel, janet, wasm, ... and just recently - a Python support was added.

Always worth mentioning is TIC-80 [1], another fantasy console/computer. Which is open source [2].

There is TIC-80[0] and PixelVision8[1] (interesting license) but I agree. It would be awesome for PICO-8 to be free (libre) software.

For a free and open source alternative I recommend checking out TIC-80: https://github.com/nesbox/TIC-80
One that I've kicked around with is TIC-80: https://github.com/nesbox/TIC-80

A bit more generous with the system resources, but PICO-8 does have a bigger community and "carts" to download and poke around with.
