What does HackerNews think of toaststunt?
A network accessible, multi-user, programmable, interactive system for the creation of MOOs / MUDs.
Language:
C++
Nice job op!
@cmrdporcupine consider sharing with the moo-talk mailing list: https://groups.google.com/forum/?pli=1#!forum/moo-talk
It's a mailing list, people actively developing on or with LambdaMOO.
I also know of an actively developed version of the C version (has SQLite support): https://github.com/lisdude/toaststunt
Nice job op.
There's been active-ish development on the original LambdaMOO code to include SQLite support, amongst many other features: https://github.com/lisdude/toaststunt
ToastStunt is an actively developed fork of Stunt which is a fork of LambdaMOO. It's extended a lot of what LambdaMOO offered via patches, as well as adding a lot of new and much needed stuff. Active Discord community as well. And several large MOOs are running it instead of LambdaMOO these days.
LambdaMOO is mostly people being idle. There is, however, a spiritual successor called ChatMUD. It's based on a fork of a fork of the original LambdaMOO server called ToastStunt (forked from Stunt). It seems to have a bit more pep in its step if you're looking for a semi-active social / programming MOO.
MUDs (MOOs specifically) were super formative for me. Learned to code from playing with LambdaMOO and helping develop Sindome (www.sindome.org)
If anyone is interested in a modern / updated LamdaMOO server check out ToastStunt: https://github.com/lisdude/toaststunt
