It's wild to me that Windows is a better Unix than MacOS.
macOS is certified unix, neither windows nor Linux are.
To get the same environment that is WSL (namely a virtual machine with tight integration and low overhead), Apple provides Hypervisor.framework: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/hypervisor
