So far I've found that "restart: always" in the compose.yml is enough for my home server apps. In the rare case that one of the services is down, I can SSH in and have a quick look - after all it's one of my home servers, not a production pod on GKE :p

That said, the project looks pretty good! I'll have a tinker and maybe I'll be converted

Just to add: It's definitely a bad practice to never update your images, because the docker images and their base images will accumulate security holes. There aren't many solutions around for automatically pulling and running new images.
